The Bulu Collection is handcrafted from reclaimed Chinese elm, salvaged from antique doors and windows in remote villages. Every piece carries the marks of its former life.
What to expect
Timber is a living material. It responds to temperature and humidity by expanding and contracting, so movement, fine surface cracks and small shifts in the joinery can appear as your piece settles into your home. Weathered markings, colour variation, old fixing holes and differences in grain are inherent to reclaimed timber. These are not faults. They are the reason the piece looks the way it does.
Caring for your piece
- Dust regularly with a dry, soft cloth. A slightly damp cloth can be used if needed, then dry the surface straight away.
- Do not use abrasive, solvent-based or oil-based cleaners.
- Blot spills immediately so moisture does not penetrate the timber.
- Keep out of direct sunlight and away from heaters, air conditioning vents and open fires. Artificial heat dries the timber and causes cracking.
- Use felt pads under objects, and lift rather than drag when moving the piece.
Dimensions
Every piece is hand-carved, so dimensions are a guide and will vary slightly from one to the next.
