About "Shaka" Clay Bead Necklace
About "Shaka" Clay Bead Necklace
The NEW Shaka Necklace - the right amount of beaded beauty and edge for your décolletage.
Drawing on African heritage and craftsmanship, each bead that makes up our"Shaka" Necklace is hand rolled by the women of Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa. Using raw clay, the beads are sun dried, kiln fired and dip dyed ensuring no two are the same.
Available in 3 new colourways:
- 14K Matte Gold with Pale Grey Clay Beads
- 14K Matte Gold with Teal Clay Beads
- Matte Silver with Charcoal Clay Beads
Please remember your beads won’t be perfect circles and the colours may vary. Because the beads are porous, some will absorb the dye more than others. We have chosen to hand brush our metal to create the textured, imperfect aesthetic we strive for.
Hand rolled beads
Each clay bead is hand rolled, kiln fired, then dip dyed before being individually strung onto a wrought iron frame.
Designed and made by women
A community based project, head designer Merewyn Rossouw and a team of local women harness their natural talents, embracing the beauty of imperfection. Clay is distributed into the communities where our ladies can hand roll the beads. They carry the fingerprints and that is why we like to call them “perfectly imperfect”.
Handmade in Africa
Designed for the world, handmade in Africa by a beautiful community in Kwazulu Natal, Midlands, South Africa.
Our most popular
Sash is one of our most popular chandeliers and is a favourite amongst those who are having a hard choice between modern and classic style lighting.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long will it take to receive my order?
If your item is in stock, we aim to dispatch within 3-5 business days from time of payment. If it's urgent, just let us know and we will aim to dispatch quicker or express post for an additional charge
What is the returns policy?
We happily accept change of mind returns for neckalces and bracelets. Due to health regulations, we cannot accept returns for earrings. Given we are a small business, we cannot cover freight for change of mind returns.
What are the earring posts made from?
Earrings are made with sterling silver posts. Other metal components are made from brass (either oxidised silver, silver, gold or rose gold plating).
How do I care for my jewellery?
When not in use, lay your jewellery flat in its box to maintain shape, minimise stretch and reduce exposure to moisture and dust. Take great care when handling your beads as they are made from natural materials that are porous. Exposure to air and moisture can cause the metal to tarnish. Rub the surface gently with a polishing cloth to remove tarnishing.
