About Uniqwa Naga Grinder Coffee Table

About Uniqwa Naga Grinder Coffee Table

The Original Naga Grinder originate from Nagaland in remote India.
These beautiful original pieces are hand-carved from a solid single piece of wood in the early 20th century.
This table was originally use by the Naga tribes of North East India as a grinding table for spices or grains. The holes within the centre are where the grains would be held and ground with wooden poles.
All grinders are individual in size, the smaller pounders are usually found outside the hut of a more wealthy villager. The larger and longer ones with multiple holes are usually for use by the community of villagers and normally located in more communal areas of the village.
The reclaimed nature of the wood is perfectly complemented by the high gloss white finish, achieved by several coats of specialist paint. This rustic table would make the most stunning coffee tables and conversational piece. Please note that the surface is not completely flat, all tables are individually unique, with a rustic earthy texture.
