klaylife™ chandeliers are easy to install and suitable for mounting indoors and other areas where they are protected from the weather (IP20).

Before beginning the installation process, it is important to ensure the proposed location and fixing method is capable of supporting the weight of the chandelier. Here are the approximate weights of the various models.

Ceiling construction

There are two general types of ceiling construction: concrete, common in apartment and multilevel properties, and various combinations of timber or steel framing with plasterboard or other sheeting.

Concrete ceiling will normally be no problem; it will just be a matter of selecting the most appropriate anchors. Timber or metal frame with plasterboard or other sheeting can be more difficult and require the careful location of the mounting plate, or even additional strengthening.

The installation process

klaylife™ chandeliers should always be installed by a licenced electrician in accordance with the requirements of AS/NZS3000 (current edition) and other relevant Standards and Regulations.

Depending on the age and standard of the premises, replacing an existing lighting fixture with a klaylife™ chandelier will often not require any changes to the existing wiring.

Mount the ceiling plate so that it can easily support the weight of the chandelier, and mount the fixture by either a series of ‘S’ hooks, or if preferred, a section of chain.

WARNING: Some klaylife™ chandeliers may be too heavy for one person to manage. Ensure safe work practices are used at all times.

Lamp selection

The number of lamps (globes) required will vary according to the style. The choice of lamp will vary with brightness required, ability to be used with a dimmer, and energy use and life span characteristics. Non-halogen lamps produce more light per watt and last longer but are often not dimmable.
